Description

This compact, well-branched Salvia produces abundant spikes loaded with large blue flowers over a long season. Plant this one en masse to create a feeding station for hummingbirds, or add a few plants here and there at the edge of the border where you can appreciate the long season of color.Only a few of the perennials in this large genus are hardy for us, but among them are several superb garden plants. Most offer spikes of densely packed flowers in shades of pink and purple and have a long period of bloom. They are especially valuable where summers are hot and dry, for they ignore heat and go steadily about the business of making flowers. All prefer sun and excellent drainage.
